For the almost 3 years that I've owned my Z, I've put up with being harrassed by NJ police for my tinted windows. At first, I was determined to stand my ground and keep them tinted. I was willing to do whatever it takes to keep the tint examples; (Always put both windows down when pulled over, get my car privately inspected, and try to the best of my ability to get police to understand that I am not a "drive-by" suspect and I am no threat to society by having my windows tinted). Well, I've been pulled over at least 6 times for the tint, and only received 2 tickets. Those odds are almost worth it BUT, now I can't even get the private guys to inspect my car with the tint. Well, I've been pushing my odds by going with failed inspection or uninspected since May 2000. In January, I was pulled over by a town cop in a mall parking lot for the out dated inspection. Since I couldn't find my insurance card, he overlooked the inspection and gave me an "uninsured motorvehicle" ticket with hopes to SCREW me even worse. Fortunately, I would NEVER drive my Z with less than FULL insurance, but it was quite an inconveinience to fly home from Boston to appear in court and supply evidence (spelling?). Then last weekend I was driving to my girlfriends house at around 9PM ( Now I try to limit driving the Z at night so the inspection sticker can't be seen in passing) and I get pulled over. I'm thinking "Oh shit, here we go again". He tells me that he pulled me over for the snow on my head lights. At this point I'm praying that he over looks the missing inspection sticker. Well he goes back to his car and I get out to clean my headlights off. Then I decide to walk over to his car and get my liceince, registration, and insurance card (yes, I found it this time) so he totally overlooks the inspection. Whew, close one. All this from having tinted windows! So, next weekend I made an appointment to finally get the tint removed and get the car inspected. The tint compliments my black Z so well but I'm just tired of dealing with it. It sucks. Thanks for reading guyz. I'm glad I have a place like this where everyone can understand!
